One of my headlight bulbs blew the other day. Its not wise (or legal) to drive with broken bulbs, so I took myself off to Halfords to buy a new bulb. They’ve got this flipchart thing, where you can find the exact bulb you need, just by looking for your car model. It showed two bulbs, so having looked at the two on offer, I bought what I presumed to be the correct bulb. I got home, took out the old one, and realised it was totally wrong. So the next day, back to Halfords I went, receipt in hand and exchanged my bulb for the other one. I got home – and again, it was the wrong one!
I was getting pretty annoyed by this point, so I decided to take out the old bulb, and took it down to Halfords with me. It looks very much like my car has different bulbs in some cases. I told the guy in Halfords about it, and he looked suitably non-plussed about it. During my lunch break today I tried to fit the new bulb. It took me about 2 minutes to extract the old one, 2 minutes to fit the new one, and about 30 minutes to get the back cover of the lighting mounting back on. Its just a plastic cap, and it would NOT go in, for love nor money. I don’t intend doing that again in a rush.
Still, I now know that I need an H7 bulb in future.
