I got the new album yesterday, Barenaked Ladies Are Me. I already love it! I’d heard a few songs already, like Adrift, Wind It Up and Bull In A China Shop. I was used to the live versions though, and the album versions differ quite a bit in some cases. The songs have evolved quite a bit since they were first played live. In a good way too.

It’s a very mellow album. Apparently, the next album (which contains the rest of the 29 songs recorded in this session) is more rocking. I do love BNL’s mellow stuff, but the rockier stuff is great too. The song that stands out the most for me is definately Maybe You’re Right. The brass bit at the end is just great. Even better is that live the band ‘sings’ the brass parts. It sounds silly, but it’s actually quite good.

Great album anyway! Can’t wait for Barenaked Ladies Are Men!
