What is The Treefort?
There are actually 2 different mailing lists.
The first is a Barenaked Ladies email discussion list which contains posts from BNL fans around the net without the spam. Looking for facts or would you like to share information with other fans? Get up to date BNL news? Here’s where you can do it and let everyone can hear about it. Want to organize a pre-show get together? Why not see if someone else on the list is going.
Although the discussion list will not be censored, there are a few things to keep in mind.
- Personal attacks on other users will get you removed.
- No throwing Kraft Dinner!
- Spamming will get you removed.
- No throwing Kraft Dinner.
- As all ages will be reading this, we ask that vulgarities be kept to a minimum.
- When replying to one person, send the msg DIRECTLY TO THEM. Not to the ENTIRE list.
- When posting, do NOT include the entire post or digest you are replying to. This will result in a warning and should it happen again, you will no longer have the right to post. You will be subscribed but not able to post.
EDIT your posts!
- Posts may be sent in PLAIN text format only. No encoding/html/quoted or printable text. If you don´t understand what that means, simply set your email client to text only and you´ll be fine.
- If you want to unsubscribe or be removed from one list and be placed on another, come back to this page and do it, do not ask us to do it for you.
- If you are on loose format and mail to you bounces more than three times for any reason you will be automatically switched to digest.
- If you are on digest and mail to you bounces three times you will be unsubscribed. If you find yourself unsubscribed, feel free to subscribe yourself again when your mail problems are corrected.
You may have noticed that the all these items are bold and in some cases underlined.
This is to try and get you to realize that a LOT of people do not seem to be able to do some of these things and this just generates more work for us, the administrators of the list.
SUBSCRIBING
To subscribe you will need to know if you want the list to arrive in loose or digest format. Digest format means that every so often (time is designated by the mail server) one email will be sent with all the posts compiled and sent to you, instead of loose format which means each post will be forwarded to you as it is received by the server.
So as not to get confused, please note that the list name of the loose format is treefort and the list name of the digest form is treefort-digest.
To subscribe in LOOSE format:
To subscribe in loose format send and email to majordomo@list-server.net and in the body of the email write subscribe treefort
To subscribe in DIGEST format:
To subscribe to digest format send and email to majordomo@list-server.net and in the body of the email write subscribe treefort-digest
To unsubscribe to the list:
Send an email to majordomo@list-server.net and in the body of the email write unsubscribe treefort or unsubscribe treefort-digest depending on which list you are on. The listname will be treefort if you are on loose mail or treefort-digest if you are on digest form.
To switch the format you receive:
If you’d like to switch from loose mail format to digest format or vice versa you have to first unsubscribe to the list you are on, and then subscribe to the list you want.
TO MAKE A POST:
Send your post to treefort@list-server.net Only members can make posts. If you’re not a member your mail will be not get placed into The Treefort.

The 2nd list is an announcement list that only sends out newsworthy posts. New concert dates, TV appearances, CD release dates.. etc.. This list has none of the fan to fan chatter the above list has. It does not come out regularly, only when there is new info. To subscribe only to this list click here.
The announcement only Treefort is available only in loose format since there would only be 1 post at a time. Members only may contribute information, but all posts must have authorization (to be done by the server) from the list manager. This is done to keep out idle chatter which should only happen on the discussion mailing list. This list will only come out when there is new news or information so don’t get worried if you don’t receive something more than every month or so..
